Laura Durkay is a former Columbia College student. As a student she was president of the Columbia International Socialist Organization and author of a crazy, rant-filled Spectator column, "The Socialist Alternative". From 2005-2008, she worked for D. E. Shaw, the top quant-based trading shop on Wall Street. She is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in screenwriting at the University of Southern California and runs the blog Laura on the Left Coast.
