The Korean Methodist Church and Institute is located on 115th Street between Riverside Drive and Broadway. Having been established in 1921, it is the oldest Korean church on the East Coast. According to the church website, "The term 'Institute' has historical significance in that KUMC&I was founded as a direct result of the Korean Independence Movement and served as a sanctuary as well as forum for scholars, political dissidents and immigrants."[1]
Former members include Syngman Rhee, the first president of South Korea.
