The Kingsmen are a men's a cappella group, founded for Homecoming in 1949.

In 1969 the group became the band Sha Na Na, who opened for Jimi Hendrix at the Woodstock Festival and appear in the Woodstock movie, as well as in Grease. [1] Columbia was the only college represented at Woodstock. Historians recently credit Sha Na Na and Columbia College with inventing the mythical "Fifties". [2] The Kingsmen resurfaced as an on-campus a capella group in 1982.[3]

Art Garfunkel and Tom Kitt are a prominent alumni.
