John Henry Pell Columbia College Class of 1852 was the intended honoree of Pell Hall, which for some reason was never built.

  • Born Jun 14, 1831 - Died February 5, 1902[1]
  • Moved to Minnesota in 1856
  • Elected to Minnesota State Senate in 1860. Resigned in 1861 to enlist in Union Army. [2]
  • Captain in the 1st Minnesota Infantry Regiment from April 29, 1861 (unit founding) to March 26, 1863 (resigned)[3][4] Resigned for disability? [5]
  • Member of the Numismatic Society [6]
  • May have been involved in wars against the Sioux, and maybe a massacre? [7]
