Chef Mike

Michael DeMartino, better known as Chef Mike, is the executive chef of Columbia Dining. This means that he oversees the operations of JJ's, John Jay, and Ferris, plus other places like Blue Java and Uris Deli.[1]

Before working at Columbia, Chef Mike ran food stuff at Fordham for 18 years.[2]

In January 2022, Columbia erected a temple to Chef Mike inside Uris.[3] This shrine-cum-sandwich shop, called Chef Mike's Sub Shop, took the place of the Uris Deli sandwich counter that closed during the 2006-2007 school year. A plaque on the wall inside pays tribute to the venerable Chef Mike's origins.

An ode to Columbia's hero
