Sanchez claims to have been out of the business for 15 years. However, on the Alan Colmes radio show, Colmes confronted Sanchez with evidence that he had been advertising his services in New York Blade (a gay newspaper) as recently as November 2004. Further evidence of Sanchez's career recently surfaced, with a review of an escort named 'Mateo' (and alias Sanchez has used in the past) appeared on the Daddy's Reviews website. During the Alan Colmes interview, when confronted with evidence that he had advertised his services as recently as three years ago in the New York Blade, Matthew responded, "Anything I'll admit, I'll own up to it".
Sanchez angered homosexual activists, whom he referred to as gay jihadist and gay fundamentalist when he stated that his orientation was not gay.Sanchez blog.   Gay activists have since criticized Sanchez for being anti-gay or refusing to speak out in support of homosexual causes.  Sanchez has vigorously stated that he has no interest in homosexual causes whatsoever, which has caused a backlash from homosexual bloggers.

Critics have noted that Sanchez is in the middle of the cultural wars by having been in the adult film industry and being a conservative.  Hypocrisy is what critics have shouted, despite Sanchez' strong criticism of the adult pornographic industry and his former participation in that industry.  Many prominent conservatives, David Horowitz, Kevin McCullough, Michelle Malkin and Ann Coulter have come forward to support Cpl. Matt Sanchez, while many liberals and particularly homosexual activists have criticized him for hypocrisy--a criticism he stringently denies.
+
Sanchez has stated that he no longer does pornography, however in many interviews, he has been evasive concerning the question of whether he still works as a male escort.

He claims to have been called a "baby-killer," along with other epithets. His media appearances include an interview in the Columbia Spectator, the New York Daily News, USAToday and several articles written for the New York Post and the Marine Corps Times, as well as appearances on several Fox News television programs, including The O'Reilly Factor and Hannity & Colmes. Sanchez is well connected to people in the conservative clubs on campus but is not an officer and holds no elected position.

According to the Military Times, Sanchez joined the Marine Corps on May 14, 2003 at the age of 32, and is a refrigeration mechanic. He is currently on Individual Ready Reserve, which holds the stipulations that he receive no pay or benefits and is not obligated to drill, conduct annual training, or participate in any military activities until activated by Presidential Reserve Callup Authority. While in the Marines, he was a part of HQ COMPANY 6TH COMM BN 4TH MARDIV, also known as 6th Comm; they are based out of Floyd Bennet Field in Brooklyn, NY. After a stint with 6th Comm, Sanchez took a position at the New York Public Affairs Office of the Marine Corps.

Sanchez was awarded the Jeane Kirkpatrick Academic Freedom Award for his work fighting discrimination against military and veterans at Columbia University at the Conservative Political Action Conference in March of 2007. A photograph of Sanchez with commentator Ann Coulter taken previous to the event has been reprinted in much of the coverage relating to Sanchez's distinct career history.

The headless photos pictured below have appeared in both gay and mainstream publications.  Talk show host Alan Colmes cited the image on a web page as well as a phone number.  Sanchez has said he too has seen the headless photo in popular sites like Manhunt.com, Rentboy.com, and NYPress and the New York Blade especially since the controversy hit the mainstream press. Homosexual bloggers have used this information to call Sanchez a liar.  Sanchez told Alan Colmes that he personally has seen his photos, used without authorization, throughout the country and as far away as Sydney, Australia. Sanchez denies ever placing the ads as a male escort.  Sanchez told radio host Kevin McCullough that pornography is prostitution, a charge many liberal activists have criticized as hypocritical.

Matt Sanchez and Ann Coulter at CPAC

Corporal Matthew Sanchez, or Matt Sanchez, (b. 1 December 1970) GS '07 is a 36-year old Columbia student. He was formerly a porn star and escort. He also did a stint in the military and remains a Marine Corps reservist. Sanchez speaks Spanish, French and German. He cites travel and books as some of his main interests; he is rumored to have visited over 50 nations over the course of the past few decades. He is often called "Mateo" by his close friends.

Biography

Youth

Matt Sanchez was born and raised in San Jose, California. He lived in Madrid, Montreal, and Berlin, where he learned Spanish, French and German respectively. Andy Towle, a gay blogger [1] and former graduate student at Stanford, claims to have briefly dated Sanchez in 1989.

Porn career

In the early to mid-1990s, Sanchez worked as a gay porn star. First, in 1993, he used the name Pierre LaBranche while working for Kristen Bjorn and William Duffault. In 1994, he moved to San Francisco and the studios changed his name to the more universal Rod Majors. He starred in several gay videos for Catalina and Falcon. Sanchez's film credits include Jawbreaker, Donkey Dick, Glory Holes of Fame 3, Idol Country (1994), Touched by an Anal (1997) and Built Tough(1995). During the Alan Colmes interview, he stated "It was 15 years ago and it just wasn't gay porn... it was more than that". According to the Internet Adult Film Database and IMDB, Sanchez is credited as being in 35+ adult films as Rod Majors, in addition to a number of films as Pierre LaBranche, they are all all-male films.[1]

Popular conservative radio host, Kevin McCullough of Town Hall talk radio, has used Sanchez's departure from gay pornography to justify the belief that homosexuality is a lifestyle choice that can be changed and is not biological. [2] Sanchez has stated that he has never identified himself as being a gay man. He has emphasized this point stating that many of the men he has had sexual relations with, weren't gay, but were in fact married.

Escort career

In addition to his career in porn, Matt Sanchez worked as a male escort. He alleged to have worked in 4 major US cities, charging $300-$350 per session. In an article for Salon.com, he wrote, "Others were comparing me to Jeff Gannon and claiming that I too had advertised my services as a male escort. I won't deny it."

Sanchez regularly advertised in his escorting services in New York's weekly gay publications and via the Internet, going under the pseudonym "Excellent Top." The internet link to Sanchez's archived escort web page has recently been changed to prevent the archived material to be viewable.

[3] During the Alan Colmes interview, when confronted with evidence that he had advertised his services as recently as three years ago in the New York Blade, Matthew responded, "Anything I'll admit, I'll own up to it".

Sanchez has stated that he no longer does pornography, however in many interviews, he has been evasive concerning the question of whether he still works as a male escort.

Other activities before coming to Columbia

In the late 1990s, Sanchez left the porn industry, and moved to Berlin for a year. He learned German and allegedly worked at Time Out Berlin. He continued working as an escort during his time in Berlin.

Military Career

According to the Military Times, Sanchez joined the Marine Corps on May 14, 2003 at the age of 32, and is a refrigeration mechanic. He is currently on Individual Ready Reserve, which holds the stipulations that he receive no pay or benefits and is not obligated to drill, conduct annual training, or participate in any military activities until activated by Presidential Reserve Callup Authority.[4] While in the Marines, he was a part of HQ COMPANY 6TH COMM BN 4TH MARDIV, also known as 6th Comm; they are based out of Floyd Bennet Field in Brooklyn, NY. After a stint with 6th Comm, Sanchez took a position at the New York Public Affairs Office of the Marine Corps.

Columbia

Sanchez is currently a student at Columbia in the School of General Studies Class of 2007. He has passionately defended veteran rights on campus. In particular, he won won approval for the Columbia University War Memorial, a project that will honor all alumni who have fallen in American conflicts since the War for Independence.

Complaints about military bias on Columbia campus

Sanchez became well known after criticizing administration officials for failing to take any action following an incident on campus where members of a socialist student group harassed him at a college activities fair. The students said Sanchez was too stupid to realize that the military was taking advantage of him as a minority. He has since become an an outspoken critic of anti-military bias among students, faculty and administration at Columbia. His media career started with an interview in the Columbia Spectator. After this he appeared on several Fox News television programs, including the O'Reilly Factor and Hannity and Colmes. Sanchez has received support from conservative student groups such as Columbia College Conservative Club and the College Republicans.

Porn star revelation

Sanchez attended the 2007 Conservative Political Action Conference where Ann Coulter made her infamous "faggot" insult about John Edwards. He received the Jeane Kirkpatrick Academic Freedom Award and was photographed with Coulter. A number of gay bloggers (including Joe. My. God) recognized Sanchez as a former gay porn star by the name of Rod Majors, as described above. The story, rapidly seized upon by blogs including The Bwog, Datalounge and Gawker, has since been covered by several major news organizations.

When the allegation hit the blogosphere, Sanchez was quick to respond with an op-ed piece he wrote for the liberal-leaning Salon.com blog. Right-wingers David Horowitz (on Front Page Mag) and Michelle Malkin have come out in Sanchez's defense.
