- Creation of the National Undergraduate Film Festival
- LionLink launched
Spring
- The first Glass House Rocks is held in Lerner Hall
- Michelle Oh elected President of the CCSC
- The Sachems prank Lerner Hall with saffron sheets in the style of Christo's "The Gates"
- Grad students strike during finals for the second year in a row; this time joined by sympathizers from Yale. A giant inflatable rat is positioned outside the 116th Street gates.
- Robert Kraft is the keynote speaker at Columbia College Class Day
Fall
- Bakergate breaks out as the adminisration limits drinking at football games
- October: Creation of the Columbia Science, Math and Engineering Secondary School announced
- October 15: Roar-ee the Columbia Lion adopted as Columbia's athletic mascot
- December 15: Norries Wilson named new head football coach
- December: Subway strike fucks up New York City, but everyone still required to be at Columbia, every day, on time, which is already hard enough on a normal day.
