• 1968 - by this date, the 1968 protests were in full swing: student protesters had occupied four Columbia buildings, including Hamilton, Low, and Fayerweather. An Ad Hoc Faculty Group is convened to bring a peaceful end to the protests, but their compromises are rebuffed. Activists from Harlem swarm campus and the surrounding streets. Late in the day, the Majority Coalition tries, but fails, to retake Fayerweather.
