He is a large supporter of Columbia University, and supplied the money to build the Kraft Center (which houses Hillel). In 2005, he spoke at CC's Class Day.

In 2007 Kraft made a $5 million donation to Columbia Athletics.[1] In his honor, the University plans on renaming the field at Wien Stadium Robert K. Kraft Field.
