Michael Massimino SEAS '84 is a NASA astronaut, engineering professor, and all-around rockstar of SEAS. As an astronaut, he led missions to repair the Hubble Space Telescope and proved that some Columbia engineers do go on to do to science-stuff sometimes. He taught at Rice University in Texas and has since returned to teach at Columbia. He was awarded the Egleston Medal in 2011 for his contributions to the field.

He has also been on numerous television shows and talk show programs. He made an appearance at ESC's annual Got Fu'd.
