Dwight C. Miner

Dwight Carroll Miner CC '26 PhD '40 was a history professor at the university. Valedictorian of his class (and a member of the Senior Society of Sachems), he went on to win the Mark Van Doren Award for teaching in 1965 and a Great Teacher Award in 1971.

Among his books was an edited volume on the history of Columbia written for the school's bicentennial in 1954 and entitled A History of Columbia at Morningside.

His daughter, Dorothy Marie Miner, received degrees in both law (1961) and urban planning (1972) from the university and was counsel to the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission.
