Angel Mancera
Student Council
Angel was elected to the Engineering Student Council as the Class of 2023 Vice President for 2019-2020. He also served as a member of Finance Committee. The year following, he served on the Executive Board as Vice President of Policy for 2021-2022. During this year, he accomplished many things, amongst which the most impactful were the following:
- P/D/F Policy - Drafted resolution that proposed the extension of the P/D/F policy, effectively helping students in being able to P/D/F a class and eventually uncover it if they choose to do so. Surveys showed it reduced stress during finals season and a lot of people chose to uncover their grade.
- Mental Health Form - Released a form that gauged how well our students were doing during the semester which was filled by a significant number of them and which helped shed light into the need for a P/D/F policy.
- Minor Expansion - Started drafting a thorough proposal to add a Linguistics minor, including details on the curriculum. Discussed the possibility of adding a Racial Studies minor.
- Dining Hall Queues - Met with the Vice President for Campus Services, Scott Wright, concerning the lengthy queues to get dining hall food. Held a fruitful discussion that led towards the opening of a new gourmet dining hall - Faculty House.
- Culpa.io - Initiative to update the CULPA website and incentivize people to become active by uploading their comments and thoughts about classes they’ve taken. We’re planning on hosting an event that rewards people for posting about their professors.
- Standard Class Recording Policy - Held several meetings with Dean Brovman and Dean Morrison in an attempt to establish a class recording policy for all courses that lie within the Engineering Department. We released a form encouraging professors to offer a virtual alternative as well.
- Transfer Representative Amendment - Amended the constitution to include a representative exclusively for our transfer students. Will be conducting interviews for the position in the Spring semester.
And his final and senior year, he served as Student Body President for 2022-2023.
