Columbia Campaign for Athletics
The Columbia Campaign for Athletics (subtitled "Achieving Excellence") is a $100 million fund raising campaign that is part of the $4 billion Campaign for Columbia. Officially launched on October 12, 2007 in a ceremony in Low Library, the campaign had already raised $46 million as of the public announcement.[1]
Goals of the drive focus on investing in "places", "people", and "programs."
Improvements in places include $70 million for: • a new sports center at Baker Field with training, sports medicine, and meeting facilities • new boathouse • new Dick Savitt Tennis Center clubhouse • enhancements to the stadiums, boathouses and fields at the Baker Field • improvements to the Dodge Fitness Center
Improvements in people include $20 million for endowed positions: • Athletics Director • Associate Athletics Directors • Head Coaches • Assistant Coaches
Improvements in programs include $10 million for: • upgraded training technology • sports program endowments • career development and services for student athletes
