H. F. Lenfest

H. F. "Gerry" Lenfest (L '58)is a trustee of the university, and a major sugar daddy. Lenfest made his fortune by buying a small cable television system in Pennsylvania and selling it years later to Comcast for $1.2 Billion.
Along with Lenfest Hall, the law school residence hall he helped fund, Lenfest Cafe and the adjoining lounge in Jerome Greene Hall are named in recognition for his support of the school.
Donations
- $15 million for the construction of Lenfest Hall in 2001[1]
- $15 million for the Earth Institute in 2004[2]
- $12 million for the creation of the Distinguished Columbia Faculty Awards in 2005[3]
- $48 million for a "challenge" fund to endow 32 new professorships in 2006[4]
