Vi Kyuin Wellington Koo CC 1909 PhD 1912 was a Chinese politician and diplomat. He represented China at the Paris Peace Conference in 1919, later served as ambassador to the United States and France, and was even briefly President of China, from 1926-7. Allied to the Kuomintang, he retreated to Taiwan after the Communist takeover, retired from the foreign service, and returned to New York City for the last twenty years of his life.

At Columbia, Koo honed his debate skills as a member of the Philolexian Society. He earned his PhD in "law and diplomacy".
