Ed Rice CC '40 was a journalist who founded the Catholic Jubilee magazine, wrote over twenty books, and was later known for his photojournalism. While at Columbia, he worked on Jester and was friends with Thomas Merton, Ad Reinhardt, Robert Lax, and Robert Giroux.
