Talk:David "Buddha" Meyer
Foobar, do you think you could get some sources on this stuff? I sort of get the feeling this is all fictional for an inside joke by the Ultimate team. David Meyers doesn't come up in the Spec, which I'd imagine he should if he was the founder of CU Ultimate. He also doesn't come up on Google in any connection with Ultimate. --Nonsensical 15:29, 6 July 2007 (EDT)
- Re. sources: I agree. I didn't write this article, just cleaned it up from a posting by Skanelaw (his or her only contribution).
- Re. Meyers: I think this happened in the 1970s, is spec searching reliable 30 years back? Foobar 16:13, 6 July 2007 (EDT)
- Oh yeah, you're right. Looks like Spec archives didn't really start until 2000/2001. But yeah, still we should mark this article for cleanup. Is there a template for that? --Nonsensical 16:21, 6 July 2007 (EDT)
- No sooner said than done. − Reaganaut 20:14, 6 July 2007 (EDT)
Buddha is a legend--not fiction
I played with Buddha, but I have only sketchy info for background.
Dave Meyers: Columbia HS (NJ)--1973/ Columbia College--1977 One of original HS Ultimate players from NJ...with Bob Evans (Princeton). Suffered stroke/aneurysm while at Georgetown(?) Law and never recovered. Died in 81(?)
Skanelaw and a group of ~20 players (and families) get together for a reunion game each Sept (Sat after Labor Day). The Ultimate skills have deteriorated but the camaraderie and stories haven't.
