Minghui Yu was a a PhD statistics student in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. On April 4, 2008, he was struck by an automobile at 122nd Street and Broadway while he was apparently fleeing an attempted robbery on the sidewalk.[1]

Before coming to Columbia, Minghui studied at USTC in China, in the Special Class for the Gifted Young.[2]

At Columbia, Minghui served on the 2007-2008 working committee of the CUCSSA. He was also a TA for the statistics department.
