National Public Radio (NPR) is the radio analog to PBS. It's New York City stations are WNYC, broadcasting on 820 AM, and WNYE 93.9 FM. The two stations often broadcast in sync during the day, but offer different programming at night. Many Columbia students enjoy listening to NPR.
A number of Columbia alumni figure prominently in WNYC's daily broadcasts, including Morning Edition's Soterios Johnson CC '90[1], The Brian Lehrer Show's eponymous host, a graduate of the Mailman School of Public Health, and Robert Siegel CC '68 of All Things Considered.
Siegel and Johnson both worked at WKCR, with Siegel anchoring the station's coverage of the 1968 protests.[2]
