Richard A. Billows is a Professor of History, covering mostly classical Greek history, with some Roman tangents. He is fluent in English and Dutch, and literate in Latin and Greek. He received his AB from Bailliol College, Oxford, and his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley.

He was interviewed on a History Channel documentary on toilets describing ancient Greek commode technology and fecal disposal techniques and the History Channel's Decisive Battles, The Battle of Marathon.
