Johan Jørgen Holst CC '60 was a Norwegian politician who served as his country's Minister of Defense and Minister of Foreign Affairs. He is best known for his involvement with the Oslo Accords. He suffered a stroke shortly after they were signed in 1993, and his wife reported that he had "worked himself to death" on the peace process.

A park is now named after him in Gaza, due to his efforts to bring peace to Israel and Palestine. Moreover, the Norwegian government offers a scholarship in his honor to a citizen of the country who wishes to follow in his footsteps and undertake a degree in political science at Columbia College.
