Kian Tajbakhsh PhD (Arch) '93 is an Iranian-American urban planning expert and social scientist known for being jailed twice by the Iranian government for supposed subversive activities.

His credentials include a PhD in urban planning and policy from GSAPP. He was jailed in Iran until 2007, when PrezBo's threat to grill Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on his detainment during the latter's campus visit led to Tajbakhsh's preemptive release.

Set to begin teaching at GSAPP in 2009, he was again tried and sentenced to twelve years in prison after his participation in anti-government protests that year.
