William Milligan Sloane CC 1868 was a famous Columbia College alumnus and the United States' first representative to the International Olympic Committee. He was also the founder and first president of the United States Olympic Committee, effectively involving the United States in the revival of the Olympic Games. After serving as president of the organization, he returned to Columbia to teach history.
