Ellen Victoria Futter BC '71, Law '74 was the eighth president of Barnard College from 1981 to 1993. She negotiated the agreement that allowed Columbia College to admit women, while preserving Barnard's independence. In addition, she commissioned the construction of Sulzberger Tower.[1]

Futter is currently the president of the American Museum of Natural History.
