Dean of Student Affairs
The Dean of Student Affairs is the head of the Division of Student Affairs, which encompasses many departments, including Advising, Financial Aid, Admissions, Student Development and Activities, and Residential Programs. The current Dean of Student Affairs is Kevin Shollenberger, who took over in 2007 when Chris Colombo resigned to move to MIT.
History
Initially, both Columbia College and SEAS had their own internal dean responsible for student affairs. This meant that advising, residential life, admissions, and student activities were overseen by each college separately. In 1998, the Division of Student Affairs was formed by President Rupp to create a more cohesive undergraduate experience between CC and SEAS. Both schools disbanded their Dean of Students position and combined student affairs offices under Chris Colombo.
