Harry Schwartz CC '40 MA '41 PhD '44 was an editorial writer at the New York Times who specialized in the Soviet Union, the Cold War in general, and health care. At Columbia, he studied economics and was valedictorian of his class. He worked for the OSS (precursor to the CIA) after graduation and later became an academic economist before joining the staff of the Times.
