The Bowery Prostate Study was a 1950s medical study conducted by Columbia researcher Dr. Perry Hudson on volunteers recruited from among alcoholics living in flophouses on the Bowery under ethically questionable circumstances. The studies came under critical consideration in 2013 by medical historians in articles printed in the American Journal of Public Health.
