The Thomas Egleston Medal for Distinguished Engineering Achievement is highest honor given to alumni by the Columbia Engineering Alumni Association. It is given in recognition of the notable application of engineering principles, the development of processes or techniques, or the furtherance of a specific branch of the profession. It is named for Thomas Egleston Jr., who founded SEAS (as the Columbia College School of Mines in 1864, and was first given in 1939.
