The Hearts of Oak was a patriotic militia that existed in colonial New York and played a role in the Revolutionary War. Notable King's College men including Alexander Hamilton, Robert Troup, and Nicholas Fish were members. One of its most daring acts was a raid on the grandiosely named HMS Asia for cannons. Arising in 1775, it was absorbed into a larger military unit by 1776.
