Claremont Hall
Claremont Hall is a condo tower built on the campus of the Union Theological Seminary to help it stay afloat financially. Designed by neotrad Columbia alum architect Robert A. M. Stern, it features a neogothic design to blend in with the UTS campus and classic NYC setback proportions.
It is also highly visible from the Morningside Heights campus. In some ways, it has replaced the landmark in the vista in this direction that the campus once had to the spire of Riverside Church that was blocked by the Northwest Corner Building - which has now transitioned from a more classical academic view to a much more urban one, albeit one that is very traditionally New York.
Despite it being a great aid to UTS, students protested it for being outside the institution's religious spirit.
