• John Erskine develops his General Honors class, a forerunner to Lit Hum
• The Lydia C. Roberts Graduate and Traveling Fellowships are endowed with the caveat that they only be awarded to members of the "Caucasian race;" the university would refuse to amend this requirement until 2013
