The Brain Trust was a group of professors gathered by Columbia Law School dropout (and US President) Franklin Delano Roosevelt, tapped to help deal with the problems the country faced during the Great Depression. Raymond Moley of Barnard College, who claims to have helped coined the term "New Deal", was one of the professors selected, and was instrumental in including many other faculty members from Columbia in the group. The Columbia professors Roosevelt selected included:
- Adolf Berle, professor of corporate law at Columbia Law School
- Raymond Moley, political science professor at Barnard College
- Rexford Tugwell, agricultural economist
