June Massell
June Massell was Vice President for Communications and External Affairs from September 2002 to March 2004. Her appointment followed a one year vacancy in the position after Alan Stone, the head of Columbia's press office during most of George Rupp's presidency, left for a similar position at Harvard. Massell's tenure was marked by controversial turnover, turmoil, and complaints about her leadership style. She was succeeded by Loretta Ucelli after her abrupt departure. Ucelli herself would only stay in the position for a year.
