Mama Mexico
Mama Mexico was a Mexican restaurant on Broadway at 102nd St. It was closed in Early 2012.
According to some former WikiCU editors:
"Although it's probably one of the better Tex-Mex restaurants in the city, most of the food is somewhat mediocre. And everything is pretty expensive too. Be prepared to pay an arm and a leg.
Mama Mexico often features a live mariachi band that sometimes makes it impossible to hear the person next to or across from you. You'll be having too good a time for you realize the food is actually mediocre and the margarita was more potent than you thought. Come at night for live music and tables of singing families"
History
Mama Mexico was started by Juan Rojas and his 5 brothers in 1997. They learned how to cook from their mother who travels back and forth, visiting her boys every now and then. These "Mama's boys" now have 3 restaurants. The oldest is the one located on 102nd and Broadway. The second one, a bit more upscale, is located on 49th Street between 2nd and 3rd avenues. The most recent one, opened in December of 2006, is located on Sylvan Avenue in Englewood Cliffs, NJ.
Rumor has it that a member of the class of 2008 is related to Juan Rojas and the Rojas brothers and as heir to one of the restaurants, if you ask nicely (and join his fan club on facebook.com), you might be able to get a free meal or at least a free pina colada.
