Robert Thurman
Robert Thurman, also known as "Buddha Bob", is a professor of Eastern religions and the first American to become an ordained Tibetan Buddhist monk. He is the father of actress Uma Thurman. He has one glass eye and his wife was previously married to LSD guru Timothy Leary. He was a founder of Tibet House. His lectures are sometimes referred to as "Seven Years in Tibet."
Thurman joined the faculty in 1988, moving from Amherst. Time magazine, for some reason, named him one of the 25 most influential Americans of 1997.
