Taal

Taal is Columbia’s premiere South Asian Classical Fusion dance team. Members are trained in a range of classical styles, including Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Odissi, and Mohini Attam. The team is made up of 15-18 members and puts on around 3 performances each semester, incorporating South Asian and Western music, including pop and R&B.

The team was formed in 2002 and holds an annual charity showcase called Naach Nation, which regularly draws crowds of over 400 audience members, featuring teams from the Columbia community and from schools across the region. Taal performs across NYC and the Northeast, including at events with Major League Baseball, JP Morgan, and the United Nations, as well as at universities such as Harvard and Villanova.
