William Frederick Havemeyer
William Frederick Havemeyer CC 1823 served as Mayor of New York three times in the 1840s and again in the 1870s, until dying in office - literally, in his office in City Hall. He is the cousin of Frederick Havemeyer CC 1825, whose son, Theodore Havemeyer (School of Mines 1868), financed Havemeyer Hall. The family's fortune came from sugar refining.
