The Columbia Guide to New York has been written and published by Columbia students since 1978. It is among the better guides to the city. Incoming classes of undergraduates receive a free copy of the latest edition on behalf of NSOP, as do admitted law students. The book is sold at bookstores around the city as "Inside New York".

The guide is one of the Center for Career Education's Columbia Student Enterprises. CCE hires students to work on the book each summer.
